Detailed Itinerary

  1. Day 1 — Arrival in Kochi (Cochin)

Kochi (Cochin) welcomes you on arrival. Our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel to check in and settle before you head out to explore. Centuries of Portuguese, Dutch and British trade left their mark on Kochi's old town -- Chinese fishing nets on the shore, a synagogue in Jew Town, and church spires beside spice warehouses. Don't miss the spice markets of Jew Town.

  2. Day 2 — Kochi (Cochin)

Today brings more time in Kochi (Cochin) -- a Kathakali dance performance.

  3. Day 3 — Kochi (Cochin) to Munnar

This morning you'll transfer on to Munnar. Once you've checked in, the afternoon is yours to explore the town at an easy pace. Munnar's hillsides are carpeted in manicured tea gardens that fold into the Western Ghats, with cool air, mist-covered viewpoints and spice plantations replacing the coastal heat of the rest of Kerala. Don't miss Eravikulam National Park (home to the Nilgiri tahr).

  4. Day 4 — Munnar

Today brings more time in Munnar -- the tea museum.

  5. Day 5 — Munnar to Thekkady (Periyar)

After breakfast, you'll be driven to Thekkady (Periyar), with stops along the way as the route allows. On arrival, check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure or exploring nearby. Thekkady is built around Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, where a boat cruise on Periyar Lake is the classic way to spot elephants, deer and birdlife against a forested backdrop, alongside spice plantations on the sanctuary's edge. Don't miss a spice-plantation walk.

  6. Day 6 — Thekkady (Periyar)

Another day around Thekkady (Periyar), with time for the sanctuary's forest trails.

  7. Day 7 — Thekkady (Periyar) to Alleppey (Alappuzha)

This morning you'll transfer on to Alleppey (Alappuzha). Once you've checked in, the afternoon is yours to explore the town at an easy pace. Alleppey is the heart of Kerala's backwater country -- a maze of canals, paddy fields and coconut groves best explored aboard a traditional Kettuvallam houseboat, drifting past villages that live on the water's edge. Don't miss an overnight stay aboard a houseboat.

  8. Day 8 — Alleppey (Alappuzha) to Kovalam

This morning you'll transfer on to Kovalam. Once you've checked in, the afternoon is yours to explore the town at an easy pace. Kovalam's string of crescent beaches, anchored by the Lighthouse Beach, has been drawing travellers for decades for its calm coves, seafood shacks and Ayurvedic spas overlooking the Arabian Sea. Don't miss an Ayurvedic massage by the coast.

  9. Day 9 — Kochi (Cochin) · Departure

This is the final day of your trip. After breakfast, transfer on to Kochi (Cochin) for your onward departure.
